When you live in the city it is easy to visit a doctor, dentist, or specialist, but unfortunately such health services are not always easily accessible when you are in the bush. The Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) is vital for those who live, work or travel in rural and remote Australia.

For almost a century, the RFDS has been working to provide aeromedical emergency and health services to those areas that most need it. In the last year there were more than 280,000 patient contacts, including emergency retrieval services, GP and nurse clinics, telehealth services, dental care, mental health, health education and patient transport between hospitals. With a fleet of 63 planes, from 25 bases and manned by more than 1100 staff, the RFDS is so much more than a Flying Doctor - it is a lifeline for the bush.

While supported by the Commonwealth, state and Territory Governments, the Flying Doctor relies heavily on fundraising and donations from the community to purchase and aeromedically fit-out our aircraft, purchase vital medical equipment and enhance our operational facilities.
