Caring for Your Breville Cast Iron Pot and Lid: Cast iron is renowned for its heat retention and durability, making it an excellent choice for cookware. Your Breville cast iron pot and lid are treated with an enamel coating for easier cleaning and improved durability. However, as iron is a metal, the combination of moisture, cleaning detergents, cooking, and exposure to oxygen may cause rust spots to form, particularly around the rim of the pot and lid. Seasoning helps to form a protective barrier to prevent rust spots from forming; periodic seasoning is recommended to maintain optimal performance.
Before first use It is recommended to season the pot and lid by coating the surface with a thin layer of oil, then heating in the oven to bond the oil to the cast iron.
How often should I season the pot and lid? The pot and lid should be seasoned if you notice rust on the pot and/or lid, are intending to store for long periods of time and/or after heavy-duty cleaning. Follow the instructions found in the included instruction booklet for further details on how to season and other Care & Cleaning information.
