Get out on the water for an exciting white water adventure with this half day river boarding tour on Barron Gorge. Heading out of Cairns, you'll be immersed in the Barron Gorge National Park rainforest and jump in to take on the grade 2-3 rapids on a river board.

After being picked up from Cairns, you'll be taken on a short 20km drive into the Wet Tropics World Heritage area to the Barron Gorge National Park, just below the beautiful Barron Falls and the Barron River hydro station. Once you arrive your guides will gear you up with all the equipment and instruction you need, including wetsuit pants, knee and shin guards, a life jacket, fins and a helmet.

You'll be taken through a practical introduction to the basics and safety of river boarding, how to swim through a rapid and everything you need to know to make the most of your river boarding time. This is a seriously adrenaline-pumping way to experience white water rapids, perfect for anyone who loves water sports and is up for an adventure.

Fitness and Experience

• Minimum age is 12 years
• You must have a reasonable swimming and fitness ability
• There must be participating guardian consent, if you’re under 18 years of age
• All participants need to have a basic understanding of English
• Every participant must sign a liability release form prior to commencing
• All participants must complete water confidence training, which will involve swimming a grade 2 rapid, at the start of the tour. If unable to complete the training for whatever reason, individuals will not be able to participate, if deemed unsafe by the experience provider
