Luke Skywalker brandishes his lightsaber whilst Princess Leia confronts peril with blaster pistol primed, in an exciting transition of Star Wars: A New Hope’s iconic poster into 3D fine pewter. On its independent backdrop, attached by hidden magnets, C-3PO and R2-D2 look on as X-Wing squadrons above Tatooine stream towards the Death Star, a spectral Darth Vader looming menacingly.

The promotional poster, designed in 1977 by the Brothers Hildebrandt in conjunction with its theatrical release, not only captures the operatic nature of Star Wars: A New Hope, it pays tribute to the best in 1930s science fiction visual imagery. Exaggerated in the extreme, it leaves an indelible impression on an entire generation.
